Unsocial Media
Now this comic I actually started on about a year ago. Well a year-isch. Maybe. BUT by that time that study was really new I think. I really should try to find that link to the study again. It was something really redicilous and it didn’t feel super convincing. I mean considering the study was made by a huge corporation and all.
I mean, companies want to make as much money as possible. That makes sense. But again, people aren’t machines. I am pretty sure that the 650 billion dollars are just taken out of thin air, but thinking back of this study I thought to myself that this is money they are “loosing” because people are taking a few seconds from work and checking their facebook or their email or their twitter or whatever. And those seconds for every worker at ALL the companies the the whole of US, they would loose that sum of money. I think it’s obviously bullshit, but let’s think about that for a second. When people work hard for said company for X amount of hours, then don’t they deserve to look at facebook for a few sec before they continue their job? By letting them do that you’ve got a happy worker, and happy workers usually work harder for said company. But ofcourse the corporations don’t think like this.
If the company could replace said worker with a Terminator style robot that would work full speed at every second of every hour of every day of every year… Well they would do that. But it’s not very possible. At least when it comes to most jobs. Instead by working for a company that blocks social media sites and you have a worker that is being forced made to work but doesn’t get to enjoy a break every once in a while… Yeah… That is a very unhappy worker, and I am sure that he won’t do the company any favours anytime soon.
Besides, they probably could do a very similar study and come up with that the US are loosing 967 billion a year because workers use the restroom at work. BAN TOILETS AT WORK!!! But noone would complain about that now would they?
Anyway, rant over! Enjoy the comic! 🙂
On to the next story. Social Media companies in the US made 650 billions dollars this year.
…. wait a second.
